Kirsten Hanson, PE, QSD/P
Principal & Co-founder
Kirsten has over 25 years of progressive experience in civil design, permit processing, and management of a variety of projects ranging from public capital improvements to private land development projects. Early in her career, Kirsten’s interest in civil engineering extended beyond the fundamental principles of civil design to the various influences that contribute to successful project development. While working full-time, she earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration to gain exposure to the economic and financial considerations of development projects.
Kirsten is experienced in all phases of development from entitlement and feasibility studies to grading and utility design, water quality management, hydrology and hydraulic analyses, storm water pollution prevention, permit processing, cost estimation, and construction administration. She also performs plan review for local municipalities which provides a useful perspective on how to efficiently work with review authorities to obtain project approvals. Kirsten has extensive knowledge in storm water management regulations including low-impact design, BMP evaluation/selection, and technical document preparation (SWPPPs, SUSMPs, QMPs, etc.) for sites throughout the west coast.
Erik Alderson, PE, QSD/P
Principal & Co-founder
Erik has over 25 years of solid engineering experience including project management, technical engineering, land planning, infrastructure evaluation, roadway design, storm drainage analysis and site development for public and private facilities. Erik’s passion for engineering and development goes back to his youth working in his family’s construction and development company in New York City. Assisting his family with the management of the company and working in the trades as a carpenter, plumber and electrician, Erik developed a keen interest in engineering design and planning. This hands-on background in construction and development provides a comprehensive understanding into the needs of the client and insight on how construction documents are interpreted and built by contractors.
Erik manages all phases of the project life cycle, from feasibility analysis, master planning, entitlements processing, preparation of construction documents, permit and plan approvals to construction administration. Working closely with clients and reviewing agencies, Erik successfully advances projects from conception to completion, guiding them through the public approval process to ensure proposed improvements satisfy the design objectives and budget requirements.
Ryo Clifford Sugisawa, PE
